Embers of Varn surprised us. It's a proper role-playing game that fits in your pocket, with a written story that doesn't treat you like you're in a hurry. Dialogue choices actually shift how party members react to you later.
Combat is turn-based and tactical — positioning matters, and enemy types force you to rethink your team. Battles rarely feel like filler, which is rare on mobile.
It asks for patience and a bit of reading, but if that's your thing, this is a lot of RPG for a phone.
